Bio
Steph Blondet is a visual artist based in Tampa, FL, known for her textured, sculptural paintings that explore the interplay of light, shadow, and form. Her work transforms the surface into a tactile and dynamic piece, where monochromatic lines evoke movement and invite introspection. Inspired by music and dancing, Blondet infuses rhythm and energy, creating art that bridges harmony and stillness. By focusing on texture and the elegance of minimalism, she invites viewers to connect with the intricate beauty of details.
Blondet began her artistic journey after a health scare in 2021, using creativity as a form of healing and self-expression. Following the loss of her soul dog two years later, she launched her professional art career, embracing her voice through a commitment to creating meaningful, sophisticated works. Today, her art reflects a refined and serene aesthetic, celebrating the harmony between simplicity and complexity.
She grew up taking private art classes and obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, her Associate of Art from EDP College, and her Master of Science in Digital Marketing from Full Sail University. Upon graduating, she moved to Washington, DC in 2013 to pursue a career in graphic design and web development. During this time, she sold to private collectors in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. In 2019, she relocated to the Tampa Bay area to be closer to family.
Artist Statement
I explore the intricacies of the human experience, celebrating the beauty found in opposing emotions and experiences. Inspired by music and dancing, I infuse my work with rhythm and energy, allowing movement to guide the forms and textures within my sculptural paintings. Through textured, dynamic surfaces, I transform the surface into a space where lines, forms, and textures invite viewers to connect with their own stories. My work embraces minimalism while evoking movement and emotion, using light and shadow to create a sense of depth and introspection.
I approach each piece intuitively, using texture, lines, and composition to communicate my story. The materials I use, and their placement, have their own purpose and meaning. The rough, irregular textures represent the unpredictable nature of life, while the flowing curves reflect the highs and lows we collectively experience. By emphasizing the interplay of light and shadow across these forms, I aim to reflect the duality of life and convey that, even in darkness, there is always light.
While I document moments that are unique to my journey, the message I send is universal; we are inherently connected through our experiences, offering a quiet yet powerful reminder of the resilience and beauty in our shared experiences.
